Are You a Prisoner of Hope?

Zechariah 9:12 (KJV) Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even to day do I declare that I will render double unto thee;

In the book of Zechariah, God revealed promises to the children of Israel. They had been through so much: years of slavery, famine and wars. Backs bowed low with burdens of failure and loss, the Jews were reticent to believe better days were ahead.

The things the Lord promised brought great hope to His people. They were assured prosperity, if they followed His Word. In Bible times, cities were fortified with walls of protection, or "strong holds." When enemies threatened, citizens ran to the safety of these fortresses. Promises, prosperity and protection are three gifts we are given when we put our hope in Christ.

Consider this: Do you want to sit in the cell of sin, year after year, serving a life sentence for your guilt and shame? Or will you stage a prison break, and run toward the hope and freedom that your Heavenly Father offers?

I'll be exploring more aspects of Biblical hope in the weeks to come. Stay with me, friends!

Female in Motion Health Update: I survived the marathon Easter weekend, and had a productive Monday. It felt great to work up a sweat this morning, doing aerobics. Hope this is a portent of things to come!

Ye have hope, let that hope lead you to faith, and that faith to the blood of the covenant; and, through that blood, to GOD, the Father of all.--Adam Clarke's Commentary
