A Stone Heart

Psalm 78:38-39 (KJV) But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath. For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again. My brother and I were best buddies growing up. We did everything together and got along great. There were times, though, when we argued. I would stomp out of the room, vowing, "I'm never speaking to you again!" Within the hour, we were hanging out again, closer than ever. We never could stay mad. There are times in life when others hurt us. We moan and wail, incredulous that anyone would want to cause us such pain. And then, we light upon the perfect solution. The best way to punish that mean person is to hold in the suffering they made you feel, for the rest of your life. That makes no sense at all. A heart that is hard and stony, full of bitterness, has no room for anything of beauty. ...
