The Wedding Goes Postal

The Hubster and I had something extra to be thankful for this year...Rachel and Drew got married the day after Thanksgiving! Yes, our little girl is now Mrs. Mailman. We are so very happy for the bridal couple, and we're thrilled to have a new son-in-law. And it was all done in less than a month!

It was a teeny little wedding, just 16 guests, but oh, so sweet and meaningful and warm, just like Rachel. My cousin Todd, senior pastor of Westlink Christian Church in Wichita, officiated. The santuary was already beautifully decorated for Christmas, so no need for loads of flowers. After they exchanged vows, we took family photos and then dined at Thai Tradition, Rachel and Drew's favorite restaurant.

Drew looked sharp in a new black suit and tie, while Rachel wore a flirty cream-colored dress with a pink satin cape she designed and made on her wedding day. The ensemble was highlighted by pink satin sequined pumps and a matching pink satin bag with crystal beaded handle. Her pink and cream rose bouquet was provided by Ark City Greenhouses and the rings were from Schmidt Jewelers, both of Ark City.

Sarah, our daughter, and her boyfriend, Derek, were so helpful and supportive. They helped with planning and photos and makeup and flowers and hosting crazy relatives. Okay, Derek wasn't much help with makeup and flowers, but he did help The Hubster figure out how to sign on to his wireless network. Ah, techies!

Thanksgiving was a fun day. All four of our kids came down and we ate and laughed and played card games and watched old movies...in other words, all the things we love to do! I never laugh as hard as I do when we all sit around our dinner table. That is a blessing from God. He must really like all our silly jokes!

Cyber Monday was today, and I took advantage of it in a major way. To the uninitiated, Cyber Monday is the internet counterpart to Black Friday. Instead of braving the surly post-turkey day crowds at four in the morning, I awoke at my usual time this morning, padded to the computer desk in pajamas and socks, checked my email for coupon codes, gathered my Christmas wish lists, and did 90 percent of my holiday shopping in about an hour. Yeah, I like my way much better!

Exercise Update: I did three aerobic workouts and four sets of hand-weight calisthenics last week. My sore neck is still giving me trouble, so I'm going to get it checked out on Friday.

"To keep your marriage brimming, with love in the wedding cup, whenever you're wrong, admit it; whenever you're right, shut up."--Ogden Nash

Genesis 2:24 (KJV)
"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."
