Clean Hands

Psalm 24:3-4 (KJV) Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

My favorite TV jurist, Judge Judy, always warns her litigants to come to her court with "clean hands." By this, she's not talking about their hygiene, rather their case may be tainted by their own illegal actions.

Judge Judy's courtroom is not the only place where dirt is not allowed. Nothing unholy or unclean may enter Heaven. It is a perfect place, reserved for those who have had their sins covered by the blood that Jesus spilled on Calvary's cross.

Once a year, in Old Testament times, the high priest entered the Holy of Holies only when he had cleansed himself from all his sins. After that, he approached the altar and offered sacrifices for the sins of the people. However, if the cleric harbored any sin in his heart, he would be struck dead immediately.

Jesus is our spotless Lamb. His ultimate sacrifice for our sins changed the world...and our eternity.
