Sharing Our Burdens
Galatians 6:2 (KJV) Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
Our church celebrated its 70th anniversary yesterday, with special services, a picnic and games. We talked and laughed and enjoyed each others company. It was a good day.
Last Sunday, during Sunday School, The Hubster shared a very personal burden we are facing with the class. At the time, my face burned with shame. Later, friends expressed sympathy for our situation and assured us of their prayerful support.
While it was a risk to make our burden known, it now seems lighter, because it is shared. When you make your personal concerns known, it is not whining about your troubles. It is admitting to your humanity and failures; the ones that are common to us all.
There is always a fear of judgment, when exposing your problem to others. As strong women, there is a perception that we should be able to handle anything on our own. God didn't design us to lead solitary lives, however. He urges us to hold each other up, and lean on His everlasting arms.
Share your heaviest burdens with trusted friends, and pray to your Heavenly Father for relief. Both of these actions will lighten your load and restore joy to your soul.
