Proverbs 3:11-12 (KJV) My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

It's inevitable.

Your relationship with your Heavenly Father is mirrored by your relationship with your earthly father.

My daddy was a good one. He always put family first--even above his career. He never missed a game or concert or play. There were hard times. My teenage years were tough and he didn't react well to a headstrong, smart-mouthed girl. We found our way back to each other after I married and became the mother of his first grandchild.

Not everyone had a great father. Some were absent, cold or even abusive. Don't allow that lousy example to tarnish your image of our Savior. He is warm, loving and concerned about us in the way a true father should be.

No matter what kind of dad you had here on earth, a close and personal relationship with God can reap precious eternal rewards.
