From the Heart

Ephesians 6:5-7 (KJV) Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:

Every Sunday morning before we head off to church, the Hubster and I watch CBS Sunday Morning. It's the best thing on TV all week long. They feature positive news, with an emphasis on the arts.

Yesterday, Sunday Morning did a story on Rooster Soup Company, a popular restaurant in Philadelphia. Food & Wine magazine just named it on their list of Top 10 New Restaurants in America. Their chef is a James Beard award winner.

And they donate 100 percent of their profits to a soup kitchen.

The mission of Broad Street Ministry is to practice "radical hospitality." Run like a full-service, four-star restaurant, complete with table linens and doting wait staff, Broad Street welcomes absolutely everyone--no questions asked.

When we, as Christ Followers, do service toward our fellow man, our motives should be pure, as to God, and directly from the heart. With no other incentive but to help, we can show Christ to a hungry planet.

Today is World Kindness Day. Isn't it time for us to practice a little bit of radical hospitality in our own neck of the woods?
