Hands Up!

Image
Exodus 14:8 (KJV) And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand. This verse is pretty cool, if you know the back story. After God wore him down with plague after nasty plague, Pharaoh finally relented and allowed the children of Israel to leave Egypt. These people had endured more than 400 years of slavery before Moses led them to the promised land. The Israelites didn't sneak out of Egypt under cover of darkness. They went with anticipation and hope in their hearts. And they raised their hands in praise to God for His deliverance. Life is full of entrances and exits, beginnings and endings. It matters how you start off, and it's equally important to finish strong. I want to leave this world with joy, my hands held high, praising my Savior. *** Female in Motion Health Update: I did disco aerobics twice last week, and although I can tell I'm really ou

What Are You Wearing?

Image
People get really excited about the Academy Awards. What movie will win best picture is not nearly as interesting to me as what everyone will be wearing. The gorgeous gowns in brilliant ruby, emerald and amethyst would all win Oscars, if I had my way. As the beautiful starlets glide down the red carpet, everyone asks the same question, "What are you wearing?" Romans 13:14 (NKJV) But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. Sometimes, when I'm not feeling my best, I obsess over what to wear. It hasn't been as much of a problem since my cancer battle, but I still have my moments. I want to look "just right." Depression often makes you feel as if everyone is looking at you; picking you apart as much as you're doing that to yourself. Christ invites me to take the focus off my appearance and put it where it matters most...my heart. When I clothe myself in His love and acceptance, the joy in my heart rad

Hang on Tight!

Image
I have engraved you in the palms of My Hands.  Open your hands. What are they full of? If you're like most people, they're filled with housework, homework or a child's hand. Open your hands . We carry life's burdens around, when we should be handing them over to God's care. Open your hands. Holding on so tight to the things of this earth; time, money and people can never truly be ours.   Open your hands. Your life doesn't belong to you. It is a precious gift from God, given for a limited engagement.   Why do we hang on so tight? What is most prized now will not be vital or treasured or even remembered in the life to come. Open your hands, and consider what you hold.   Isaiah 65:17 (KJV) For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. *** Female in Motion Health Update: I'm glad to report that the insomnia is mostly gone now.
