Redeeming the Time

Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.  "Redeeming the time." This phrase has been bouncing around in my brain all day. The years we are allotted in this world are brief and swift-moving. It's easy to get caught up in the dizzying array of time wasters available. It's equally easy to forget the most vital things: faith, family, others. Selfishly, I want my life to count. I desire significance . Hebrews 13:5 (KJV) Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. You know that family. The ones you see around town, or maybe they sit in front of you at church. They are perfectly dressed, kids well-behaved, beautiful home, two new cars and a European vacation every summer. Their lives seem...perfect. The sun always seems to shine over their heads--and never over yours. It is hard not to covet other people's blessings. God made mighty promises to Abraham, Moses and others in Bible times. These folks were given large families, land and riches. We witness miracles around us every day; healing, safety and even big, fat checks. Do we really believe that could happen to us? Whatever God says to one of us, he says to all His children. When He feeds one hungry soul, He feeds them all. The blessings that are bestowed on one saint are available to all His children. The...
