I Can't Get No Satisfaction

Too much of a good thing is not good at all!

When I was a kid of six or eight, I had an obsession. It was a food obsession, particularly with Chicken in a Biskit crackers. It was a doomed relationship from the start, because even at that tender age, I realized the glaring spelling error.

I found a box of those crackers in the cabinet one day, quietly put them under my shirt, and slipped downstairs to the family room, where I proceeded to watch Major Astro and eat the entire box. It wasn't much later when my tummy started to protest. Too much of a good thing was definitely not a good thing.

After spending several hours in the bathroom that evening, I learned a valuable lesson: Even the best food doesn't taste good in reverse. Since that day, even the sight of one of those crackers makes me  slightly nauseated. I can't go near them.

Seems like a lot of us are looking for something to fill in the nooks and crannies of our lives. The temporary satisfaction that an earthly pleasure may bring cannot compare to the deep, true and holy things of God. My soul cries out for the love and acceptance that only Jesus can provide. We are a nation that is on a starvation diet of temporal trinkets. Give me soul satisfaction, Lord!

The world may try to satisfy
That longing in your soul.
You may search the wide world over
But you'll be just as before.
You'll never find true satisfaction
Until you've found the Lord,
For only Jesus can satisfy your soul.--Only Jesus Can Satisfy Your Soul by Lanny Wolfe

As many of you already know, last week marked 30,000 all-time pageviews on Female in Motion blog. I decided that event was definitely celebration-worthy. So here's what I'm going to do:

                                  30 DAYS OF ENCOURAGEMENT
                       WITH FEMALE IN MOTION!!!

The winner of this giveaway receives 30 days of personal encouragement from me, consisting of:

*A daily email with personalized words of encouragement, Scripture and prayer.
*Weekly, 30-minute, in-person or Skype sessions with Female in Motion for one month (depending on your location in relation to me!)

All you have to do to enter is email me at: femaleinmotion@gmail.com before midnight on Sunday, September 22, 2013. Although I will publicly announce the name of the winner, no content of personal conversations will ever be released.

What could be better than having your own personal encourager for 30 days?

Female in Motion Exercise Update: I am doing physical therapy twice a week now: Tuesdays and Fridays at 8 a.m. I would appreciate prayer on this, because it is very painful. I'm not a big whiner, but this stuff is difficult. It is s-l-o-w-l-y starting to help with the tendonitis. I have a nerve conduction study on Thursday morning, too. I'll keep you posted.

I had a similar experience with olives when I was younger. Yikes!
I think most people have at least one bad experience with too much food, Barb. Thanks for the comment!
I LOVE your idea for a give-away. What could be more perfect? I think I'll steal your idea for our small group--a great way to encourage one another.

I pray you'll soon see results from your tendonitis--I know how painful that can be!
